Listening to Plants

A Practical Introduction to The Cimarrón Method

A grounded process for real relationship.

The Cimarrón Method is a living relationship practice rooted in Afro-Indigenous plant wisdom and the tradition of plant spirit communication.

It offers a grounded, repeatable process for building genuine, reciprocal relationship with plants — one that can guide your healing, your creativity, and the decisions that matter most in your life.

This is where that life-long practice begins.

This is for you if

  • You feel drawn to plants and want to move beyond observation into genuine relationship.

  • You're an artist, healer, gardener, or seeker who senses the living world has something to offer — and you're ready to learn how to receive it.

  • You want a practice rooted in something real — in lineage, in embodied knowing, in the kind of wisdom that has always existed in reciprocal relationship with the land.

  • You're longing for a slower, more intentional way of moving through your life.

If you work with the Green Gold Oracle deck, you're welcome to incorporate it into the practice.

It is not required.

What You’ll Learn

Remembering

Reconnecting to lineage and plant consciousness. You’ll understand where this wisdom comes from and why it matters.

Relating

Building the foundation of reciprocal relationship. Learning how to actually show up for a plant, not just observe it.

Listening

Developing the intuitive and embodied awareness that plant spirit communication requires. This is the heart of the method.

Applying

Bringing that relationship into your real life — your healing, your creativity, your decisions.

Reciprocating

The ethics of exchange. How to offer, steward, and sustain what you're receiving.

The method didn't come from a book.

It came from many years of sitting with plants — in ceremony,

in grief, in creative process,

in ordinary mornings on city sidewalks.

Meet Your Guide

As a descendant of the Afro-Taíno Cimarrónes of the Bahoruco Mountains in Kiskeya-Ayiti, my connection to plant spirit communication isn't a practice I adopted — it's one I remembered. In my youth, growing up in NYC amidst debilitating depression and anxiety, the forest became the place where that remembering began.

I didn't find plant medicine through wellness culture. I found it through my mother and grandmother, through ceremony, through the embodied necessity of healing complex trauma when the medical system couldn't see me. After more than a decade of intensive herbalism study, spiritual ceremony, urban foraging, and community organizing, I began to recognize that this practice wasn't novelty. It was a needed remembrance of our human capacities in a rapidly changing world.

The Cimarrón Method is this teaching, offered in a form that can travel wherever you find yourself. It's a living relationship practice rooted in Afro-Indigenous plant wisdom and the tradition of plant spirit communication — grounded enough to be practical, and honest enough to honor where it comes from.

This workshop is the beginning of that offering.
